'Koi' Bamboo

Phyllostachys aurea
Common Names: Golden Bamboo or Fishing Pole Bamboo

One of the most common bamboos in the US the Phyllostachys aurea – ‘koi’ is an upright, running bamboo reaching a maximum of 25’ in height with 2” diameter stalks that turn from green to yellow after the first six months. Its ornamental stalk is useful for crafts. Like other Phyllostachys strong sunlight will fade the cane to yellow with age.
