True to it's name the Giant Timber bamboo
has an average height of 50 feet and maximum height of 72' with
an average 4-6" stalk or culm. The popular and most utilized
bamboo known as the Japanese timber bamboo, valued for its
large straight thick walled stalk that does not lean to the sun
as others do. Phyllostachys bambusoides, was introduced to the
US in the 1910's by Japan for its use in erosion and construction
and for its nutritious edible shoots.
